Xiao Qiumei death in livestream video, Xiaoqiumei plunged 48m from crane
Xiao Qiumei, a Chinese influencer, dies in a live stream.
The 23-year-old mother of two is believed to have fallen while holding her phone, but her family has contested the events leading up to her death.
An influencer fell 48 meters to her death while filming herself, her phone still in her hand as she hit the ground.
The tower crane operator, known online as Xiao Qiumei, regularly shared videos of her daily life and occupation operating the massive crane.
She was 23 years old and the mother of two small children, according to local media reports.
Witnesses who saw her fall to the ground stated that she was holding her phone at the time of the tragedy, which occurred at 5.40 p.m. on Tuesday, after the majority of her coworkers had left the site.
The video that has been widely shared online appears to be the footage that Xiao Qiumei was shooting as it bounced down the crane – although her family has denied that she was filming during her descent.
They added that she conducted herself professionally at work and carried her phone in her bag during working hours.
Despite this, her family confirmed she died after falling from a crane near her home in Quzhou, a prefecture-level city in western China's Zhejiang Province.
They claimed she fell as a result of missing a step.
Her funeral and cremation have already occurred, with her ashes being placed on a small table beneath an umbrella in accordance with local customs.
