North Carolina Man George Lesniak Kills Wife Cathleen in Murder-Suicide Following Alleged Affair, Posts Disturbing Facebook Confession

A tragic murder-suicide has left the Fuquay-Varina community reeling after George Lesniak, 63, allegedly shot and killed his wife, Cathleen Lesniak, 59, following her confession of an affair. The tragedy occurred on January 18 in their home, with George later taking his own life after sharing a chilling confession on Facebook.

The Incident

At around 6 p.m. on January 18, George Lesniak fatally shot Cathleen inside their home on Highwater Place in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. Minutes later, he posted a shocking message in the now-private ADAS Support Facebook group, which he managed. The post read: “My wife admitted to cheating on me, so I killed her. I’m about to kill myself.”

Police arrived at the scene at 6:03 p.m. to find both George and Cathleen dead from gunshot wounds. Authorities confirmed that George died from a self-inflicted gunshot, while Cathleen was pronounced dead at the scene.

Who Were George and Cathleen Lesniak?

Married for over 34 years, George and Cathleen were well-established professionals. George, a former vice president of training at Autel Automotive Intelligence USA, had resigned in September 2024 after more than five years of remote work. Cathleen was a Technical Production Manager at Advance Auto Parts.

Their most recent public Facebook post, shared in December, showed a smiling George kissing Cathleen—a stark contrast to the events that would later unfold.

The Facebook Confession

George, who administered the ADAS Support Facebook group for vehicle technicians, used the platform to confess to the crime. His post, shared just minutes before police were called, revealed his actions and asked group members to determine the future of the group.

The now-deleted post left a lasting impact on those who saw it, highlighting the deliberate and premeditated nature of the tragedy.

Community and Official Responses

The Fuquay-Varina Police Department reassured the public that there was no ongoing threat, describing the case as “deeply tragic.” They urged the community to keep the Lesniak family in their thoughts and emphasized the complex nature of the investigation.

Autel Automotive Intelligence, George’s former employer, released a statement: “We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred at the Lesniak residence. Our condolences go out to the family and friends affected by this devastating loss.”

Investigation and Implications

While the case is being treated as a murder-suicide, the investigation is ongoing. Authorities have yet to officially confirm the cause of death. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Fuquay-Varina Police Department.

This tragedy has sparked discussions about the challenges of long-term relationships, mental health struggles, and the importance of seeking help during emotional crises. The Lesniaks’ story is a sobering reminder of the need for communication and support in times of distress.
