The triggerman in a birthday bar shooting in New York City has been apprehended.
A gunman who shot and killed a Bronx father celebrating his birthday at a popular Washington Heights nightclub has been apprehended, police said Friday.
Todd Drayton, 33, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of murdering Edy Corniel on Jan. 20, 2020, inside Floridita, an all-night bar and restaurant on 10th Ave. near 206th St.
Corniel was at the bar celebrating his 28th birthday when he and a friend were involved in a deadly brawl.
The other clubgoer is seen throwing fists in surveillance video from inside Floradita. Drayton then turns to a woman, seizes a gun from her, and begins firing.
Corniel was struck in the torso and rushed to St Barnabas Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. According to authorities, a 58-year-old woman was stabbed in the leg by a stray slug.
A third victim, a 29-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg, was treated at Harlem Hospital. He informed police that he had been stabbed at the night spot.
Tyler Burgos, 28, the woman who was with Drayton, fled. On Feb. 17, 2020, cops apprehended her and charged her with weapons possession.
Drayton, who was arrested in Harlem at the intersection of W. 114th St. and Lenox Ave., is charged with murder and assault.
