Mark Fisher with BLM: Thames Valley Board's 2025 Anti-Black Racism Strategy Unveiled

Thames Valley District School Board's droppin' some big news. They're kickin' off an anti-Black racism strategy set to hit the streets in February 2025.

Dig this: they're linkin' up with Senomi Solutions Inc., a tight equity, diversity, and inclusion consulting crew, to get down with the Black community and cook up this strategy.

Mark Fisher, the director of education, ain't playin' around. He's spinnin' words, sayin', "Listen up, fam! It's on us to school the next gen on why Black history stays crucial, and we gotta squash anti-Black racism, pronto! We're hustlin' on this Anti-Black Racism Strategy for Thames Valley, laying down solid plans to make our schools and workplaces more welcoming for our Black crew."

They say they ain't just spittin' game, neither. This strategy's comin' straight from the mouths of Black students, parents, caregivers, and the community.

Back in June 2020, the city council in London, Ont., was vibin' with the peeps at the Black Lives Matter rally, throwin' down motions for the school boards, the police, and the health crew to step up. Thames Valley heard that noise and started diggin' deep into their School Resource Officer program after the BLM squad pointed out it's givin' Black and Indigenous students some heavy vibes.

Word on the street is they thought about bringin' the officers back but decided to leave that idea in the dust.
