The family of an alleged adolescent murder victim confirms that his organs were donated.
The family of a 16-year-old boy who was allegedly murdered by a gang of teenagers revealed that his organs had been donated.
The boy was discovered unresponsive in a home in Doonside, Sydney's western suburbs, at approximately 5.40 p.m. last Wednesday.
He died in hospital on Saturday as a result of his injuries.
Six teenagers, ranging in age from 13 to 19, have been charged in connection with his death and are awaiting trial.
The boy's aunt disclosed Tuesday that his mother made the difficult decision to donate his organs.
“After the difficult decision that (his) mother had to make, she just learned that (he) was able to save five lives through organ donation,” she wrote online.
“What an incredible young man.”
Five of the six defendants are between the ages of 13 and 15 and will appear in juvenile court on Friday.
Each of them has been formally denied bail.
Kayla Dawson, 19, was denied bail during her Monday court appearance.
“These are extremely serious charges, and Ms Dawson is fully aware of their gravity,” her lawyer Mary Faiz said outside court.
“She has directed that a bail application be made at a later date.”
