A 25-year-old man was charged with assault after a 9News cameraman who was filming a house fire this afternoon in Adelaide was reportedly pushed and punched.
Eduard Zefi, one of the home's inhabitants, reportedly approached from behind and moved the crew member into the street as the cameraman filmed firefighters battling the blaze in West Lakes.
Mr. Zefi is accused of hitting the cameraman on several occasions, leaving him with a battered and bloodied face and a broken camera.
Moments later, police arrested the 25-year-old and charged him with aggravated and common assault.
"When the situation is dangerous, dangerous things can happen," said Mr. Zefi's father, after seeing the police lead his son away.
"Tell him (the cameraman) please, we were in a very bad situation and frustrated and if he could accept our apology (that) would be good."
As flames erupted inside a two-storey wall cavity, the fire broke out just after midday.
"Which made it quite difficult to access where the fire was and it wasn't until we were able to use aerial appliances to gain that access that we extinguished the fire,"Which made it quite difficult to access where the fire was and it wasn't until we were able to use aerial instruments to gain that access that we extinguished the fire.
Fire investigators suspect that welding equipment used in the building of a neighboring property caused the blaze.
Damage to the new house that the family had only transferred to a month earlier is estimated to be $100,000.
Mr Zefi has been given bail and next month he will face court.
