Tullamarine murder-suicide: final months of Katie Perinovic's life before child murder
Katie Perinovic, who is suspected to have killed her three children in a suicide-murder, unexpectedly quit her job and was withdrawn before her death.
"A mother from Melbourne, believed to have killed her three children before taking her own life, abruptly left her job and in the months before the killings was notably "withdrawn.
On Thursday afternoon, the bodies of Katie Perinovic, her two daughters, Claire, 7, and Anna, 5, and son Matthew, 3, were discovered inside their Tullamarine home in the northern suburbs of the city.
The assassinations have sent shockwaves through the typically quiet world.
Tomislav, 48, Perinovic's husband, made an emergency call and was questioned by the police until he was released without charge.
Investigators do not suspect that the 48-year-old man was involved in the shooting, and in connection with the matter, police are not searching for someone else," police said this afternoon."
"The investigators of the Homicide Squad have formed a preliminary view that the 42-year-old woman is responsible for all four deaths and a report will be submitted for the coroner's consideration upon completion of the investigation."
Family friend Marie Groves told the Herald Sun that she was saddened by the deaths: "Those children, I can't believe it."
Perinovic was "unusually withdrawn and quiet" at a recent birthday party for Ms Groves's daughter.
This morning, Ms Groves told NCA NewsWire, "On November 29, I had her come across and help celebrate my daughter's birthday with my children."
For a brief time, she was just there... her two older girls were very close to my younger daughters, talking and laughing, normal seven-year-olds, beautiful children.
She seemed to be a little withdrawn on that day, which wasn't normal, she was really quiet... maybe that was a pointer in retrospect? ”
Ms Groves said she didn't know Tomislav, Katie's husband, very well, because "he worked all the time."
Ms Groves, who formed a close friendship with Perinovic as her children grew up together, said the last time she saw her neighbor was before Christmas, when she appeared "a little quieter than usual" as well.
She added, however, that nothing appeared out of the ordinary.
Work LEFT
Perinovic's former colleagues, a practicing physiotherapist, told the Herald Sun that they were shocked to hear about the deaths.
It is known that she suddenly quit the Glenroy Physiotherapy clinic about three months ago.
Acting Deputy Commissioner Robert Hill said police will work to support and ensure that they get the assistance they need for the families of those involved.
"I know that there will be many individuals struggling to understand and come to terms with this tragedy in the community," he said.
"For both the police and paramedics, who responded and visited the scene yesterday, this was also an extraordinarily difficult time.
"For all concerned, this has been an incredibly heart wrenching experience."
The inquiry continues.
