Elderly Man Stabbed in Five Dock: Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder

A peaceful Sunday in Sydney’s inner-west was shattered by a violent stabbing on Lyons Rd, Five Dock, leaving an 82-year-old man critically injured. 

The victim was allegedly attacked by a man in his 50s, who stabbed him in the abdomen before fleeing the scene. Bystanders rushed to help the elderly man until emergency services arrived, and he was urgently transported to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in serious condition.

Police have since revealed that the two men were acquainted, adding a layer of intrigue to the incident. After an intensive search, officers arrested a 51-year-old suspect in Pyrmont later that evening. He has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent to murder and was denied bail. His case is set to be heard at Parramatta Local Court.
