Queens' man was 'silent, restrained,' telling family members striving to comprehend why in the Far Rockaway four men stabbed him death.

In a knife murder of a Queens music producer known to husbands as the 'magic fly' on the road, four guys were nabbed — and their families wondered why their lives have been so brutally shortened.

On Mott Ave. in Far Rockaway, a little distance from home, Desean McKenzie, 26, had been stabbed to death.

Franklin Ortiz-Castro, 48, and Augustine Velazquez, 43, are charged with massacre and weapons in their slaughter, while Luis Filion, 57, and Jesus Rullan, 40.

All four have been ordered under bail. The victims are Velázquez, Filion and Rullán, while Ortiz-Castro is located around 2 1/2 miles distant.

Most of McKenzie's time at home, video games were played and hip hop tracks were mixed and produced as a "y-magic so fly-god."

"He was a good man. He was a good man. Nobody on the street is messing with him. Nobody bothered him," Willard McKenzie, 63, his dad recalled. "Most of the time he was inside the house."

His dad said he was comforted by the arrests, "but he won't be brought back."

"In a malicious manner, he's been killed. He is not right," he remarked. He's killed him. "It is not fair." This is not fair.

"He was calm, reserved," said Devon McKenzie, a twin brother of the victim. "There was nobody who bothered him. He enjoyed making music.

"Soccer liked him. Every single NFL season he used to wait," stated his twin.

McKenzie's 23-year-old step-sister Hailey Johnson said that "I pray that those who killed my brother suffer the most."

Police couldn't tell why McKenzie was being targeted by the suspects and his family couldn't understand why anyone may want him dead.

"It's a shock because nobody bothered him. We all grew up in the same community and here we grew up. It was like how? How? Why?" said Aaliyah Johnson, another step sister, 25. "I am confused. I am confused. I am quite angry. I'm angry. I've got plenty of feelings."

She said, "It isn't a gang part. He wasn't a member. He's not that. He's not that. He wasn't an agitator. He was very loving. He was very loving. He had a heart." He had a heart.

Desean McKenzie grew up with his twin brother Devon and parents in Far Rockaways with one of six siblings. In 2017, his mom died.

McKenzie taught hip-hop music himself and made beats for his buddies, his relatives said. His family.

"He was like, 'Oh, that's something I could do.' He believed he might do this, you know. He's only an autodidactic," remarked Devon McKenzie. "I just found a way and taught me. He just found a way. He'd walk me all along — 'You've got questions?' You know?" You know?

McKenzie studied computers and volunteered in the pit bullock rescue of BRAT Rescue, his neighbourhood.

Aaliyah Johnson reported that McKenzie was working in a neighboring public library, sorting books and supporting computers there.

"He was quite sweet. He was very sweet. She answered, "If he can help you, he will help you." "Your bag can only be held on your way home. He was a humanitarian. He was a humanitarian. But he's cute under your skin."

And she remembered that he was artistically minded.

"He can draw! He can sketch! Oh, he might draw my goodness! Also, Devon. You have this gift. He's been down with the arts," remarked Johnson. "We got a piano. In fact, before he departed, we'd create a studio. This didn't work out, however."

His twin claimed that he wants to recall his happiest brother playing Madden NFL video games and making music.

"You know, he only wanted to be a producer To gain money from beating," he stated. "You know, he wasn't worth it?"
