Crip gang member Kevin Faneus killed Julftson Remy, in Nostrand Ave. East Flatbush
Gang member caught for shooting and killing NJ business owner over shady car rental.
Police said Friday that they caught the man wanted for killing a New Jersey business owner over a fake car rental when they walked up to a double-parked car and recognized him.
Kevin Faneus, a 22-year-old Crip gang member, was caught Wednesday on Nostrand Ave. in East Flatbush, less than a half mile from where he allegedly killed Julftson Remy, 24, early on Sept. 17.
Remy was born and raised in Orange, N.J. He drove 40 miles to meet his killer at 2:40 a.m. on Glenwood Road near E. 36th St. to give him a black BMW rental car.
Jean Remy, the victim's father, said that Remy didn't want to give the car himself in a deal that one of his employees set up on Instagram.
When Julftson Remy and the worker got to Brooklyn, the renter gave them $2,200 in cash, but the worker at Remy's didn't check the customer's ID before he left with the car, the dad said.
The father said that his son scanned the ID himself, found that it was fake, and tracked down the renter through a tracking device in the rented BMW.
When the young businessman got out of his Mercedes-Benz GL to talk to the driver, his father says, he was shot right away.
Jean Remy said, "It's a big loss." "I'm devastated. My son liked to date. Everyone got help from him. The town of Orange and I both lost the nicest boy we've ever had."
Police said that Faneus has been arrested many times. After serving time for trying to rob a store and threatening a witness, the records show that he was released on parole in September 2021.
